Super featherweight world champion Ryan Garcia is responding to criticism that he should be ejected from the World Boxing Council (WBC) after intolerant comments on social media.
Garcia, a result that overturned his win over world super-lightweight champion Devin Haney in April after he tested positive for ostarine, has repeatedly made derogatory comments about Black people and Muslims.
Ryan Garcia is hereby expelled from any participation in our organization. ” We did not tolerate any discrimination,” Sulaiman said Thursday on X.
“Because of that, I am extremely afraid for (Ryan) to have refused assistance from us in the midst of his battle with mental health and substance abuse protocols.”
The boxer has been battling mental health problems for years, his family said in addition to promising help.
Another snippet of the statement:Our family categorically rejects any form of bigotry or discrimination based on race, religion socioeconomic status. Ryan is not that person, and those are not the values his family instilled in him.
