Deposed Serie A champions appoint former Chelsea, Tottenham boss Antonio Conte as coach to lead Napoli in post-contapandemic rebirth.
The club’s president and owner Aurelio De Laurentiis took to X, previously Twitter with a photo of the pen-to-paper moment alongside the words: “Benvenuto Antonio”.
Conte, who has previously managed Juventus and Inter Milan, takes over a contract with the Italian media reporting is an eight million euros ($8.7m) per season three-year deal.
He becomes the fifth shadow coach of Napoli in last year a period of chaos for the club who won Serie A title 2022-23 with their first time since 1990 when Diego Maradona is still playing.
The coach who did win the title, Luciano Spalletti, departed last summer and southern Italy’s biggest club has gone through three managers en route to a desultory 10th-place finish this season.

The Conte appointment can be summed up by the saying that he was born to coach Napoli and his resume certainly gives encouragement for a summer of rebuilding.
The 54-year-old has claimed four Serie A crowns, three with Juve and one with Inter this year also while the Italian was a Premier League winner having led Chelsea to domestically glory in 2017.
Star striker Victor Osimhen is fresh off his first international goal for Nigeria but looks a certainty to be missing against Conte, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs targeting the Lille maestro.
But Napoli’s other star attacker, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is contracted to 2027 and Conte has apparently insisted the Georgian winger must not be moved on with Paris Saint-Germain interested.
