The exciting news of Joao Neves joining Liverpool has been confirmed – News Sports

Liverpool will have to pay big money for highly-rated Benfica talent Joao Neves if they chose to sign him this summer. They will also go up against PSG, and possibly Arsenal and Manchester United.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Benfica will not consider any offers for the 19-year-old forward unless they match his £101.5m release clause as it stands. To add fuel to the flames, reports emerged over Liverpool lining up a bid for the Primeira Liga talent.

Benfica are understood to be demanding a fee in the region of €60m, which is fully justified by how Nevez signed an agreement with Benfica that stretches through till 2028.

Speaking of Neves ahead of Euro 2017, Diogo Jota said: “He has the quality and mentality to go really far.”

Replacing Fabinho as a holding midfielder might also be an area Liverpool need to address, though Wataru Endo has impressed since joining from Stuttgart in 2023.

But Real Madrid, Besiktas and Galatasaray are all interested in signing Neves too — which will push up their asking price. However, they will be up against a PSG side that give them little room for error to win their fourth successive European crown.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Benfica are demanding a £101.5m release clause fee from any suitors for the 19-year-old. This comes after reports claimed Liverpool are lining up a bid for the Primeira Liga star.

Benfica are set to make a strong stance from the get-go, with Neves not out of contract at Estadio da Luz until 2028.

Before the European Championship that summer, Diogo Jota hailed Neves to Spiegel: ‘Joao certainly has enough quality and attitude to go a really long way [in football].

Fabinho could be effectively replaced by a new holding midfielder, but Wataru Endo (signed from Stuttgart in 2023) as performed well.

Still, that may prove too steep for Liverpool
